TO BE HOME is the first dedicated design and development company that focuses on the unique needs of the empty nester, the retiree, and those who want to activate their later years and who expect more from the golden years.
Our mission is to place control of the retirement years back into the hands of the individual.
TO BE HOME was inspired by witnessing the positive approach to life, the increased engagement and agency my parents gained by building them a home that provided the independence they deserved in their retirement years.
Entering their 60’s my parents investigated their ‘retirement’ housing options and were disillusioned at the substandard housing stock and the costly retiree & aged care industry. Every option was a compromise, nothing in the market provided any long term lifestyle of financial benefit. They wanted more and they deserved more.
We came up with three goals for a new house for their ‘empty nesting’ years:
Gone was the ‘worry of ageing’ and the stress of a future in aged care, this was swept away with a feeling of positivity and agency over their lives, their future was now back in their hands. Their new home unlocked a more mobile and social future, more time for family, friends and travel.
TO BE HOME was born.
With over 25 years in the architectural and development industry David brings thorough professional understanding as well as real life experience having lived with family members with special needs.
Ned combines interests in human-centred design & socio-demographics with more than 15 years of client lifecycle expertise in lifestyle and property industries. He shares with David the enthusiasm for making positive change in the housing sector to the benefit of older generations.
Prestige Homes, a highly regarded residential builder, have partnered with TO BE HOME to develop this new model of housing. This strategic partnership allows each home design to be unique whilst maintaining high standards.
